The following points should be considered in insulating glass, insulating glass balcony and facade applications.
Some silicone sealants used during the installation of insulating glass to the joinery penetrate the outer insulation material between the two glasses and interact with the inner insulation material butyl, causing the butyl to melt and flow between the two glasses. What needs to be done to prevent this situation, known as butyl leakage, is stated below.
In cases where installation is not carried out in accordance with the following points, our company does not accept any material and moral responsibility in any way.
- Materials to be used in the installation of IGUs (structural silicones, sealing silicones, joint filling silicones, under-mount silicones, silicones used in glass balcony production, adhesives, etc.) must be suitable materials that do not contain acidic solvents.
- In case of contact between insulating glass units and installation materials (structural silicones, sealing silicones, joint filling silicones, under-mount silicones, silicones used in glass balcony production, adhesives, etc.), these materials must be tested for compatibility with primary (butyl) and secondary insulation pastes (polysulfide, polyurethane, filling silicone) used in insulating glass production. It is the responsibility of the installation company to have these tests performed in the laboratories of silicone manufacturers.
- In cases where the insulating sealants on the edges of the insulating glass units may be exposed to direct sunlight, silicone should be used as secondary sealing in the insulating glass units. Since our company cannot follow the installation method, this issue should be specifically stated in writing when ordering glass.
- Our company cannot be held responsible for any fractures and other defects that may occur on the glasses due to the unsuitability of the areas where the glasses are kept with or without a stand at the assembly site.
GENERAL DEFINITIONS AND CLASSIFICATIONS
Insulating glass units are grouped into 3 different classes; Type A, B and C.
The classification is based on whether the insulating glass unit is exposed to UV radiation and/or permanent shear load. The outer sealing material must be silicone based to withstand UV radiation and/or permanent shear load.
In this case; it is foreseen that the external sealing material used in Type A insulating glass units should be polysulfide or polyurethane, and the external sealing material used in Type B and C insulating glass units should be silicone based.
